Comparison of radical prostatectomy with HIFU method in localized prostate cancer treatment

Team of French urologists compared traditional method of prostate cancer treatment – the radical prostatectomy with HIFU method in localized prostate cancer treatment.

588 patients with comparable

It is true that 7-year survival rate without the use of salvage radiotherapy was lower in patients who
have been treated using HIFU than a radical prostatectomy, but what is important, the rate of 5-year
survival free from relapse in case of treatment after the relapse treated with radiotherapy was
favorable in group treated with HIFU than patients after radical prostatectomy (91% versus 75%, p:

Based on the nine-year follow-up, it was found that both treatments provide similar therapeutic effects of 90%.
